Due to rapid melting of heavy winter snow, communities in Northern Utah are currently experiencing heavy flooding, sewage backup, and utility damage in their homes. Often, this damage is not covered under homeowners’ insurance policies.
To provide support for these communities, United Way of Northern Utah has established a Community Disaster Relief Fund. This fund seeks to alleviate unmet needs of families and individuals experiencing disaster or hardship.
United Way of Northern Utah will distribute 100% of the funds collected through this page directly to families and individuals affected by recent flooding.
A committee of local government officials, community disaster relief agencies, and nonprofit partners has been created to address each case of need stemming from damage caused by excess water and sewage. Currently the Unmet Needs Committee has representation from The American Red Cross Northern Utah Chapter, Habitat for Humanity of Northern Utah, Habitat for Humanity of Weber & Davis Counties, Box Elder Emergency Management, Southern Baptist Disaster Relief, Team Rubicon, United Methodist Committee on Relief, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, United Way of Northern Utah, The Salvation Army, Tremonton City, and Brigham City.
This Unmet Needs Committee will evaluate each individual case and determine funding distribution back into the community. Additionally, resources such as furniture, clothes, cleaning supplies, appliances, tools, labor, and other household items are offered at no charge to individuals or families through the community agencies represented on the committee.
