Ogden School District

Established in 1849, Ogden School District is an inner-city district, enriched by multicultural diversity. The district operates 15 elementary schools, three junior high schools, two high schools, one alternative high school, and one youth-in-custody school. The district’s guiding principle is “Let us expect greatness from every child.”
  • Partnered with United Way of Northern Utah on the Ogden United Promise Neighborhood initiative to receive a three-year, $1.5 million grant from the Utah State Board of Education (and will provide a matching amount of $500,000 per year during the three-year grant)
  • Superintendent serves as co-chair on the Ogden United for Education Advisory Board
  • Supports three new Family and Youth Specialists at T.O. Smith Elementary, Mount Ogden Junior High, and Ogden High School and supports programs to engage families in education
  • Committed to community efforts to prepare children for kindergarten (YMCA preschools, HeadStart, etc.)
  • Partner in the Read.Graduate.Succeed. tutoring program for children reading below grade level
  • Works with community organizations to address the needs of student populations
  • Invests in neighborhoods and innovative partnerships, including recent construction of the STEM-focused New Bridge School
  • Currently works on credit recovery and acceleration to help students who are behind graduate on time
  • Implemented an Impact and Improvement Network at T.O. Smith Elementary to address chronic absenteeism
