Collette Mercier

President, Ogden-Weber Tech College

Collette Mercier has been employed at Ogden-Weber Tech College since 1984 and will be retiring in 2017. During her tenure, she has fulfilled a broad range of assignments, from public relations and student services to Foundation development and instructional division oversight. Serving as president since 2007, Collette knows the college’s strengths and challenges and is totally committed to its mission: “We build a prosperous community by creating a technically skilled workforce, one student at a time.”

  • Worked extensively with United Way of Northern Utah, local employers, community leaders, and legislators to address workforce shortages and ensure that college programs address local workforce needs
  • Forged strong partnerships with Weber State University and both the Ogden and Weber School Districts to ensure educational pathways and opportunities for students
  • Directed the development of strategic and annual business plans, addressing local needs and maintaining the tech college’s position as a leader in career and technical education
  • Worked closely with Rep. Brad Dee, Rep. Gage Froerer, and Sen. Scott Jenkins to obtain nearly $22 million during the 2009 legislative session for a new health technology building
  • Worked with Rep. Gage Froerer and Rep. Mike Schultz during the 2016 session to obtain $ 6.5 million to renovate the campus at Business Depot Ogden (BDO) to expand composites and NDI (non-destructive inspection) programs
  • Hired amazing faculty and staff who work directly with students and local employers, making a difference not only in the lives of the students, but also for their families, employers, and ultimately our entire community
