Running a Great Campaign

Commitment

Harness support from enthusiastic individuals who care about making a difference in the community. Have hope.

Training

Held in August, this training will give you a jump start to running a campaign. Training includes previewing the annual video, use of pledge forms, tips on public speaking and how to ask for money from your peers.  If you missed the training, a United Way representative can provide a brief  "mini-training" at your facility at any time.  Call 801.399.5584 x109 to schedule a time.

Management Support

Obtain a letter of support from your business leadership endorsing or promoting the campaign. This letter could be distributed to all employees with their paychecks, or simply read during the campaign meetings.

Find out if your company offers a giving match or makes a corporate donation. These can offer a great boost to your campaign.

Campaign Plan

Establish your approach to running a good campaign. Schedule events, develop a theme, set goals for contribution levels as well as participation levels, and request promotional materials online by clicking here

Schedule a meeting with ALL employees

Piggy back on existing meetings, or schedule a meeting, where all employees will have a chance to learn about United Way.

Invite a United Way representative and an agency representative to share a brief United Way story with your staff. Watch the United Way DVD / Video and distribute NFL cards and/or other United Way promotional materials.

At the end of the meeting, distribute the pledge forms and invite all employees to fill the out a form – even if they are not making a donation (this way you will know if everyone had a chance to attend a meeting.) Collect the pledge forms within two weeks.

Conduct a Special Event

Holding a special event is the most enjoyable part of the campaign. This is where you can have fun on the job and make a difference in the community at the same time. Click here for some suggested activies.  Have fun!

Report & Celebrate

Measuring your success is critical to a campaign. Know the percentage of participation among your employees, know who is giving significant amounts, and be sure to thank every donor. When you return your pledge forms, please fill out the online survey by clicking here so United Way can help you celebrate and measure your success.
